Zero-latency setup

“Zero latency” means making delay small and stable enough to feel immediate. The largest improvement usually comes from monitoring the kit directly, not from a software setting.

Recommended routing

Rhythma recommends routing its audio into the drum module’s AUX/MIX input, or listening to Rhythma and the kit through the same mixer or audio interface. You then hear the module’s drum sound directly while Rhythma receives MIDI and plays the click through the same headphones.

Checklist

1. Use wired USB MIDI and wired headphones where possible.
2. Monitor drum sounds from the module; leave Play drum samples for MIDI hits off to avoid doubled hits.
3. Connect the computer output and module to one listening point.
4. Close CPU-heavy tabs and audio applications if clicks break up.
5. Run Settings → MIDI → Timing Alignment → Run Timing Alignment after the routing is final.

If the module cannot mix external audio, use a small hardware mixer or audio interface with direct monitoring. Avoid Bluetooth headphones for graded practice: their buffering is much larger and can vary after reconnecting.

Rhythma’s manual offset can align scores but cannot remove the audible gap created by a slow output device.
